Who processes your data

Byrt (Michael Rademaker) processes the data that comes in through byrt.nl and michaelrademaker.dev. Byrt is based at Veemarktkade 8, 5222 AE 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands (unit 6131), and is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 64842762.

The contact form

If you fill in the contact form, I receive your name, your email address and your message. I use them only to reply. The message goes by email to my own mail server and is not shared with anyone else.

The legal basis is your own request for contact: without those details I cannot answer.

The form uses ALTCHA as a spam check. That check runs entirely on this server, puts nothing on your device and sends nothing to third parties.

I keep messages for as long as the conversation runs, and at most two years after that so I can look up earlier contact. Then I delete them.

Visitor statistics

I keep track of which pages get visited, so I can see what people look for and what does not work. That runs on Matomo, which I host on my own server. No analytics company sits in between and your data never leaves my own infrastructure.

The measurement happens server-side. Nothing is stored on your device and nothing is read from it: no cookies, no fingerprinting, no scripts following you around.

For each page view I record which page you requested, which page you arrived from, your browser and operating system, your language preference and your IP address. The IP address is truncated before it is stored, so it can no longer be traced back to you. It serves only to work out which country a visit comes from.

I do not build profiles, I do not follow you across other websites, and I use the numbers for nothing beyond this site. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because nothing is placed on or read from your device, the consent requirement in article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act does not apply here.

I keep detailed statistics for thirteen months. After that only aggregated totals remain, in which no individual visit can still be picked out.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own accord.

There is one exception. If you indicate below that you do not want to be counted, I store that choice in a cookie; without it your choice is lost on your next visit. The cookie is called byrt_analytics, lasts a year and contains nothing else.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, you are not counted either way and you need to set nothing below.

Third-party scripts

For a few parts of this site your browser loads JavaScript directly from two public CDNs: unpkg.com and cdn.jsdelivr.net. That means those parties see your IP address and your browser details. They are not used for tracking here, and I get no data about you back from them.

Your rights

You may see your data, have it corrected or deleted, and you may object to the processing. Send an email to hi@byrt.nl and I will respond within four weeks.

If you disagree with how I handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes

If anything changes about how this site processes data, I update this statement.
